- Now THERE's a question we haven't seen in a while. There are at least
- two options on the Amiga, and it's likely that the equivalent also exist
- on other platforms.
-
- Once upon a time there was a commercial product called Disk-2-Disk, which
- allowed an Amiga with a 5.25" diskette drive to read C=64/128 disks
- directly (and to write the middle portions of same). You might still
- find a copy on a consignment shelf somewhere. More to the point, your
- local Amiga users group is likely to have some (like me) who has it and
- would be willing to help out.
-
- The OTHER approach is to use a REAL C=1541/1571 drive and a C64 software
- emulator, of which there are several for the Amiga. The drive connects
- to a special adaptor that plugs into the system's parallel port. (I have
- one of these, too. 8^)
-
- If your C=64/128 still works, you might have yet another option. It's
- possible to make up a null modem cable to connect the C=64/128 "user
- port" to the serial port of an Amiga or other system. Part of the
- project is to match the voltages (the C=64/128 port operates at 5vdc;
- standard RS232 ports use 12vdc), but it's not rocket science. Once the
- connection is made, use Kermit or some other communications program to
- transfer files directly.
-
- Good luck, and Happy New Year!
